The village of Anz̬re faces due south, perched on a plateau, in the heart of the swiss Alps. In the region, one can find primitive rural structures and altitude pasture dwellings, made of wood and stone. The pedestians only Village Square is the centre of village life. During the winter, once a week, hot wine is prepared in a large kettle as a welcome drink for all visitors. It is a good opportunity to socialise and get to know others. Constructed in 1965, the development of Anzere was based on well-studied planning and designed layout. The heart of the resort is called Anzere Village which is a pedestrian zone, making it ideal for families with younger children. Large wooden chalets surrounding the pedestrian square with a good choice of shops, boutiques in a continuous gallery, with restaurants, caf̩ terraces, and playground for children with public benches. Visitors will appreciate this car free open space, safe for children and favoured by parents. Anzere is a medium size resort, cosy and friendly. The style of constructions blends well with the mountain environment. Situated on a high plateau facing south, Anzere overlooking down the Rhone Valley, with a sweeping panoramic view of the Valaisan Alps where 12 peaks over 4'000m. high, extending from Bitschhorn to Mont-Blanc. During winter the resort is equipped with 11 different skilifts covering over 40 kilometres of skiing terrain between 1500 and 2500 m. altitude. It offers1 cable car, 2 chair lifts, 8 T-bar tows and a snowboarder slope. In the village, a special T-bar tow is specially designed for beginners and young children. First snowfall usually comes the first days of December which marks the beginning of the skiing season. Ski-lifts function everyday until the end of Easter Holiday. Part of the domain is covered by snow blowers. The terrain is specially suitable for intermediate skiers. There are 3km of easy trails for beginners. Expert skiers will enjoy the 5 km black trail to perform their skills on a 2km of mogul slopes. Sledging The superb 3.1km sledge trail winds through forests and open spaces in a magnificent surrounding. Under optimum snow and weather conditions, this run takes about 10 minutes to sledge down.
